Freddie Maxx and The Graphics Reunion

Freddie Maxx and The Graphics Reunion

The Graphics met in Eugene OR while attending the UO and soon became fan favorites in local clubs.  Signed to Atlantic Records, the band released "Electrical Horse" and was voted best rock band in Oregon by KZEL.  Featuring Dennis Tevlin and Bill Preib on guitars and vocals, with Kevin Winn on bass, John Evans on keys, and Steve Perry on drums, The Graphics defined the early 80s rock scene in the Pacific Northwest.  In true rock-n-roll fashion, however, the band dissolved over disagreements in direction and by 1984 all members had left to go their own way.  Preib and Tevlin reunited later to form Banberry Cross and the Bouchards, but the Graphics remained a thing of the past - until now!  Four of the five original members have reunited for a special performance.   With Tevlin now taking over for Perry on drums, Evans taking over lead vocals, Preib doing his thing on guitar and Winn - the ever thunder man on bass - the boys are back in town for a one night only show at Cafe Racer.  The band's original sponsor and mentor - Freddie Maxx - who hasn't been seen out in 30 years is rumored to be in Seattle and going to the show.

Love Church #notachurch

In “Braving the Wilderness”, (page 108) Brene Brown shares a quote from Seahawks coach, Pete Carroll, on the topic of true belonging that resonated…

“When you push a fitting-in culture, you miss the opportunity to help people find their personal drive - what’s coming from their hearts. Leading for true belonging is about creating a culture that celebrates uniqueness… My job is to identify their unique gift or contribution. A strong leader pulls players toward a deep belief in themselves.”

Love Church #notachurch is one person's attempt to gather in community, to celebrate our individual uniqueness, to cultivate a stronger appreciation of self and to witness the ways in which we are deeply connected.

This is community building by and for the people. Many voices will be heard. Interactive games will be played. Questions will be pondered. There may even be dancing... and there will definitely be Mimosa's!

$10 tickets must be purchased in advance. Capacity is 40. https://lovechurch.brownpapertickets.com/

Ian Maksin in Seattle + Pashas of Aurora

Don't miss this unique opportunity to see perform one of the most remarkable Russian-American musicians, cellist, composer and multi-lingual vocalist Ian Maksin at Cafe Racer in Seattle during his PNW mini-tour!

Friday, May 17, 8:00pm
CAFE RACER 5828 Roosevelt Way NE

Early bird tickets ONLY $15! Book now:
https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/4189049

Opening act: Pashas of Aurora

Breaking boundaries both musical and geographical, cellist, composer and multilingual vocalist Ian Maksin has created and developed his own unique genre by blending elements of different styles in a new way using his cello as the main unifying force. He sings in nearly 20 languages: Russian, Ukrainian, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Yiddish, Ladino (language of the Sephardic Jews of Spain), Turkish, Kurdish, Armenian, Arabic, Latvian, Lithuanian, Belarusian, and Macedonian. Ian is equally brilliant in every genre in its pure form, from classical to jazz and blues, and Latin to Balkan and Middle Eastern music. His passionate interpretations and soulful sound have generated a contagious universal and ever-growing appeal to diverse audiences across the world.

Born in St. Petersburg, Russia into a multicultural family, Ian Maksin began playing cello at age six at the Special School for Gifted Children at the Leningrad Conservatory. He later continued his education at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City, where he moved at age seventeen on his own. After many years working with several prestigious symphony orchestras and chamber ensembles in the classical realm, Ian chose a new musical path, exploring his own personal artistic voice by fusing styles from music of all sorts of genres that he listened to as a kid. Ian acquired blues and rock guitar skills along with learning the cello, which allowed him to expand the capabilities of cello in a completely new and unique direction.

According to Ian himself, “at some point I realized that music was much more than just a compilation of sounds for mere entertainment of both musician and listener, but something much bigger - a force capable of healing, inspiration, unity and reconciliation among people on a global scale. I believe cello can save the world.”

Henry's Real Talk & Book Signing

Henry was invited to the stage of Love Church following this fb share some months back: “Nothing has changed my life more than the conscious effort to love myself. The concept that feels so selfish at first, is what ends up giving me the ability to give abundantly to the universe.”

THIS is the revolution we stand for! The journey towards greater self-acceptance is the answer for more healing in the world. When we feel groovy with our inner world, in reflects in how we approach our outer world... and in turn, how the outer world reacts to us individually. We can manifest anything we can dream up, because we are in the flow, standing with our fear, in the light. Join us to hear Henry talk about his journey out of the shadows!

Rumor has it, there will be a book signing for his latest release: A Squirrel's Guide to Happiness. Hope you can join us for this inspirational talk.

To learn more about Love Church and our typical shenanigans, visit our webpage here: https://www.verysheri.com/lovechurch/

Reserving tickets in advance is advisable.
https://lovechurch.brownpapertickets.com/

The format for our 90 minute gathering that occurs on the 1st and 3rd Sunday each month, includes an opening riff by reverend verysheri, readings by guests (that means YOU), an authentic relating exercise, Real Talk guest speaker, mutual appreciation, and revelry!

ps: there will be hugging #hugthug
